Best and Worst from the trip:
Food:
Best - Riverside Hotel Gourmet Room Laughlin or Indian Curry Pizza in Panama City
Worst - Hyatt Albuquerque since Kaylee waited two hours and it never showed up or Chicken fried steak with jalapeño gravy in Plainview Texas
City: Best - Laughlin Nevada as long as you were not inside the Riverside hotel
Worst - Gallup New Mexico | Lottaburger and McDonald’s were the only place to eat. The town was armpit USA
Hotel:
Best: All the Courtyards were nice | Small town USA always seemed to have a courtyard
Worst: Riverside Hotel Laughlin | Bring a hazmat suit if you stay there
Nicest People:
Best - Gallup New Mexico | Dump of a town but everyone tried to help us
Worst - Panama City | No one helped us as we arrived late. Almost had to hitchhike but someone at the FBO tricked a guy to give us a ride to town
Flying Situation:
Best - Making 5 states on day 4 and flying over the clouds
Worst - Not able to take off in Gallup
Non-flying situation:
Best: Beating Kaylee at liars poker in a bowling alley in Laughlin Nevada
Worst: Staying at the Riverside hotel
View:
Best - Flying over the clouds on day 4. It was heaven!
Worst - Riverside hotel looking at the slots area full of cigarette smoke and knowing we had to sleep there. Looking at all the stains on the carpet. Looking at the slime running down the walls. Seeing the elevator open on the 7th floor where it looked like someone had been murdered. You get the picture.
Speed:
Best - 109 knots. 30 knot tail wind
Worst - 60 knots. 30 knot head wind
Weather:
Best - Cruising over the clouds with the heater on in Texas
Worst - BullsHead 113 degrees and all the storms that dogged us on the trip
I want to thank Kaylee again for being a great instructor. Thanks to everyone for following Icon Cross Country...
